Create your one-of-a-kind vision with me
All about custom artwork:
The process of creating a special piece just for you or a loved one is wonderfully rewarding. Whether you have a clear idea already, a vague concept, or just a space to fill and a vibe, I’d love to work with you to develop your idea into something real.
I specialize in custom designs in my signature “Moorish Rose” painting style (The delightfully swirly one), or a more traditional “European 4 in 1” (the one that looks more like paintings on armor), but I’m open to ideas and challenges if you have something else in mind.
After you submit this form, I will review it and follow up with any other questions and/or a quote for the work. Ideally, we can find a moment to chat about the work, and then there will probably be some back-and-forth during the design process.
Things you may want to ask yourself:
Where do you envision the piece will live? Can you already see your work there? These pieces can be incredible conversation starters, and because YOU had the design idea, you really can have a chance to talk all about it with family and friends
How large should the piece be? Rough dimensions at least are critical for me to get you a decent quote.
What is your design inspiration? Do you have a clear idea that you want me to execute? Do you like something about my style already and just want a unique piece made just for you? Are you looking for realism, or abstract? What’s the mood?
Some details about the process:
Ideas are free, work is not. Please submit whatever ideas you have at whatever stage you have them, and I will happily help you pin down a final design concept at no charge. Then, in order to continue the work, I charge a non-refundable design fee based on the size of the piece, and a 50% deposit to begin weaving your painting. The remainder is due upon completion, prior to shipping.
How much does it cost? The biggest factors here are size and the weave you choose. I work out a rough price-per-square-inch figure based on these factors when I create a quote for you.
(This tends to work out to about $3 per square-inch for Euro paintings, and $10 per square-inch for Rose paintings, plus design)How long does it take? This really depends on a lot of factors. Design can take some time, but once weaving has begun, I have a pretty good idea of how long it takes me to create something based on the size of the piece. We will discuss these details along the way.
How do you hang a chainmail painting? This also depends a lot on what you want! I have done everything from providing no hanging materials at all (so the client could decide how to do it), to a simple hanging with a rod, to crafting an entire frame / shadow box design. The more complex your request, the more we have to consider in the quote. I will admit up front that I am an amateur woodworker, so if you want a piece professionally framed, you might need to find a professional!
